BIKING & TREKING THE ANDES 5 DAYS

In this 5 day program we will take you to wonderful and little visited places. We will cross the Cotopaxi National Park by bicycle and the next day we will visit the beautiful Quilotoa Lagoon; We will continue pedaling until Sigchos, where the bicycle tour ends. The next 3 days we will cross trails around the flanks of Chimborazo. We will observe, llama, wolves and variety of birds and abundant vegetation typical of the Highlands. We will finish crossing the high desert of Chimborazo until reaching 5.300mts, a sort visit to Chimborazo Refuge where the trek ends and return to Quito.

Day 01.- Quito – Cotopaxi National Park
We will depart after breakfast, drive on the Pan-American Highway towards Cotopaxi National Park. While crossing the volcanoes avenue, we will enjoy beautiful landscapes as well as some snow pick volcanoes such as Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Illinizas North and South, etc.  After a short safety briefing we will start cycling on dirt roads through volcanic ash and Highlands landscape towards the Inca ruins at 3.700mts where we will stop for lunch. We will enjoy beautiful scenery. Transfer to Latacunga, overnight hotel. (Box Lunch/Dinner)

Day 02.- Latacunga - Quilotoa
08:00am transfer to Quilotoa Crater and a short visit to the Lagoon. Safety briefing, start riding on dirt roads passing bik iliniz1through Andean communities enjoying wonderful views. Downhill to Zumbahua. Transfer to Riobamba, overnight hotel. (Breakfast/Box Lunch/Dinner)

Day 3. Urbina - Carihuairazo.
We will start from Urbina paramo at 3,600mts altitude towards the Carihuairazo. A walk of approximately 5 hours. The route runs through paramo and trails up to 4,300 meters. Night at the Refuge of Mechahuasca. (Box Lunch – Dinner).

Day 4. Mechahuasca - Chimborazo.
Departure from Urbina Highland at 4,300mts, making a long journey on the north face of Chimborazo, observing alpacas and the famous wild vicunas. A walk of approximately 7 hours. The route is paramo, Vicuñas del Chimbo1sand and rock up to 4,800mts. Night at the Carrel refuge in Chimborazo volcano. (Breakfast - Box Lunch - Dinner).

Day 5. Chimborazo –Agujas de Whimper.
We will start from the Carrel refuge in the snow-covered Chimborazo, at an altitude of 4,800 meters, towards the Agujas de Whimper, a rock formation. A walk of approximately 5 hours to 5,300mts. The route runs through sand, snow and rock. Return to Quito. (Breakfast - Box Lunch)
