Cotopaxi Climbing & Hiking 3Days

Climbing Cotopaxi  is not difficult or technical however,  due to its height, it is necessary acclimatization and good physical form.  We suggest this 3 day climbing program which will provide a better opportunity to reach the summit. First day is hiking around Rumiñahui Volcano 4 to 4 ½ hrs. +-; second day outside the refuge (basic climbing techniques) third day climbing to the summit.guaguaclimat

Day 01.-  Hiking – Rumiñahui
Transfer to Cotopaxi National Park. Once we arrive we will head to our starting point La Rinconada altitude 3.800 Mts. Check in and leave our bags and equipment.
After lunch, we will hike to Rumiñahui Volcano. We will fallow a route carefully picked for acclimatization. 4 to 4 ½ hrs hike. Maximum altitude 4.500mts
Overnight and dinner at 3.800mts. 

Day 02.- Ice Briefing
Breakfast, car drive to the parking area. Hike to the hut from parking area 45 minutes +-. Ice briefing, return to Refuge. Dinner and restcoto refuge

Day 03. – Climbing to Cotopaxi Summit
After a light breakfast before midnight we will departure to the summit following the normal route we expect to arrive whithin 7-8 hours. On the way with good weather, we can observe far in the distance the Mount Chimborazo. Once we reach the summit we will enjoy a wonderful view of the crater of this impressive volcano. We descend to the refuge and afterwards to the parking lot. Return to Quito

Travel  and health insurance, meals not mentioned, personal expenses, personal equipment (plastic boots, rain Jacket, sunglasses, sleeping bag and head lamp), tips, and beverages

What to bring
Sleeping bag, bag pack, warn and rain clothes, trek shoes, hat or cap, gloves, flashlight (torch) with spare batteries, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, with spare batteries.
