Pasochoa

Pasochoa is an ecological and fauna reserve with an elevation of 4210 meters above sea level, located in the south part of Quito. This area is the home of over 127 species of birds, 232 of flora, and 10 species of mammals. Its slopes provide some important water sources, which later become the main tributaries of the San Pedro River. The Reserve covers a surface of 500 hectares and possesses several microclimates such as cloud forest, primary green forest, humid bushes, and pasture covered moorlands in its natural state with a tremendous quantity of wild birds, which is a magnificent opportunity for those who like to bird watch and take pictures.

We will depart early in the morning heading south towards this protected forest, 4 hours hike will take us to the top. On the top, we will have lunch while enjoying a great view of Cotopaxi snow pick and other nearby mountains. While hiking its impressive trails we can observe some deer, foxes, wild goats, rabbits, pumas, and different kinds of rodents. Throughout its paths, we can watch colorful butterflies, frogs, and other small wild animals. Return to Quito in the afternoon.
