The 4000-year dormant volcano of Pululahua is situated in the Andean highlands, some 10 miles north of Quito, and just a couple further than the equatorial line. This geographical position combined with its mild climate, it's a beautiful setting, and wide biological diversity makes this a real insider trip for tourists and scientists alike. The crater has been declared a protected area and is now a nature reserve.
You will have the opportunity to discover this exciting landscape on bikes, riding by deep gorges, rushing mountain streams yielding warm volcanic springs, fields blooming with wild orchids, deserted chalk mines, and Tropical Mountain forests; it really is quite spectacular and despite the exertion whilst biking proves a good relaxing day out.
