CLIMBING CAYAMBE 5.790MTS 2D
Cayambe is the only volcano in the world crossed by the Ecuadorian Line. It is located at the Northeast side of Quito.
Day 01.- Quito Cayambe
Depart from Quito at 09.00a.m. and drive on the Pan-American Highway heading north, until we reach the town of Cayambe. Lunch on the way then continue driving until we pass the Piemonte Hacienda continue driving until we arrive to the parking lot fallowed by a short hike to Ruales Oleas Berge refuge 4.600mt. We will have a briefing about basic climbing techniques outside the refuge. Dinner and rest.
Day 2.- Cayambe Summit
We get up around midnight, get ready, have breakfast and then depart to the summit following the normal north route. To reach the summit may take from 6 to 7 hours approximately and with good weather, as the sunrises we should be able to enjoy some of the most exceptional views in the world. Return to the refuge 2 ½ hours, then return to Quito.
Includes
Basic climbing equipment: boots, crampons, harness, ice axe, mittens, private transportation (4X4), park fees, and certified guides: one for every two clients, mountain meals: 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, tee coffee, rest at the refuge.
Not included
Travel and health insurance, personal equipment: rain jacket, sleeping bag, warm cloths, gloves, meals not mentioned, personal expenses, tips and beverages.
What to bring
Backpack, warm and rain clothes, trek shoes, 2 to 3 pair of socks, hat or cap, gloves, flashlight (torch) with spare batteries, sunglasses with a strap, sun block, camera, with spare batteries.
