Climbing Cotopaxi is not difficult or technical however, due to its height, it is necessary acclimatization and good physical condition. We suggest this 3-day climbing program which will provide a better opportunity to reach the summit. The first day is hiking around Rumiñahui Volcano 4 to 4 ½ hrs. +-; second day staying at the refuge and third day climbing to the summit.

Day 01.- Hiking – Rumiñahui
Transfer to Cotopaxi National Park. Once we arrive we will head to our starting point La Rinconada 3.800mts. Check-in and leave our bags and equipment.  After lunch, we will hike to Rumiñahui Volcano. We will fallow a route carefully picked for acclimatization. 4 to 4 ½ hrs hike. Maximum altitude 4.500mts.  Overnight and dinner at 3.800mts.

Day 02.- Ribas Refuge 4.800mts
Breakfast, car drive to the parking area. Hike to the hut from the parking area 45 minutes +-. Basic techniques briefing outside the refuge. Dinner and rest.

Day 03. – Climbing to Cotopaxi Summit 5.897mts
After a light breakfast before midnight, we will depart to the summit following the normal route, we'll expect to arrive within 7-8 hours. On the way with good weather, we can observe Chimborazo's volcano. Once we reach the summit we will enjoy a wonderful view of the crater of this impressive volcano. We descend to the refuge and afterward to the parking lot. Return to Quito

Transportation (4X4) Quito – Cotopaxi – Quito, basic climbing equipment: crampons, harness, ice ax, mittens, helmet, ASEGUIM guide 1 for 2 people, tents / or refuge 2 nights, mountain meals during the tour: 2 box lunches, two dinners, 2 breakfast, water, tea or coffee.

What to bring
Sleeping bag, alpine boots, bag pack, warn and rain clothes, trek shoes, hat or cap, gloves, a flashlight (torch) with spare batteries, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, with spare batteries.
