CLIMBING ILINIZA SOUTH 5.266MTS 2D
To climb Iliniza South requires the good technical ability for mixed climbing. You should know how to climb on ice and rock and be in good physical condition. This mountain is far more technical than Cotopaxi or Chimborazo.
Day 1: Quito – El Chaupi
Depart from Quito at 10:00 a.m and drive to la Virgin heading South. Once we reach La Virgin we'll hike 2 to 3 hours. We will have lunch below the mountain refuge and then continue to the refuge of 4.600mts. In the afternoon, we will have a safety briefing. Dinner and overnight/refuge
Day 2: Refuge - Iliniza South Summit
After a very early breakfast (4:00 a.m.), we'll climb to the summit this should take us 4 to 5 hours with good weather. Once we reach the summit, we will descend to the refuge (approx. 2 hours) then Return to Quito.
Includes
Private transportation (4X4), basic climbing equipment: crampons, harness, ice ax, helmet, park permit, certified guides: one for every two clients, mountain meals: 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, tee coffee, rest at the refuge.
Not included
Alpine boots, mittens, rain jacket, sleeping bag, personal equipment, meals not mentioned, personal expenses, tips, and beverages.
What to bring
Backpack, warm and rain clothes, trek shoes, 2 to 3 pair of socks, hat or cap, gloves, a flashlight (torch) with spare batteries, sunglasses with a strap, sunblock, camera, with spare batteries.
