CLIMBING ILINIZA NORTH 5.116MTS
Iliniza North is one of the best picks in Ecuador for acclimatization and offers some stunning views. This mountain is necessary before attempting to climb Cotopaxi, as it takes you over the 5000mts.
Day 1: Quito – El Chaupi
We will leave early by a car heading south going through the Avenue of the Volcanoes towards "El Chaupi", a small village in Machachi. We continue to La Virgin and from there we will hike for 3 hours up to the refuge where we will have lunch.
Dinner and overnight at the refuge.
Day 2: El Chaupi – Iliniza North Summit
After having a very early breakfast we will head to the top following the normal route and the principal ridge. Usually, this summit has very little snow and it is easy to reach without crampons. It requires good hiking boots. Reaching the summit will take from 3 to 4 hours then, we descend to the refuge and we will continue to La Virgen. Return to Quito.

Basic climbing equipment: crampons, harness, ice ax, mittens, helmet, private transportation (4X4), park entrance, and certified guides: one for every two clients, mountain meals: 2 lunches, 1 dinner, 1 breakfast, tee coffee, rest at the refuge.
Not included
Travel and health insurance, technical equipment: Hiking boots, rain jacket, sleeping bag, personal equipment, meals not mentioned, personal expenses, tips, and beverages.
What to bring
Hiking boots, backpack, warm and rain clothes, trek shoes, 2 to 3 pair of socks, hat or cap, gloves, flashlight (torch) with spare batteries, sunglasses with a strap, sunblock, camera, with spare batteries.
