Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador. Climbing Chimborazo will present a challenge to even the most experienced mountaineer; it is a technically easy to moderate climb, but the long approach to reach the peak will certainly test physical limits. Proper acclimatization is a must as is an excellent physical condition.

Day 1: Quito – Riobamba - Chimborazo Refuge
Depart from Quito, we head south down to the Pan-American Highway until we reach Ambato. Continue 60 km further, then turn southeast to arrive at the Carrel Refuge at 4800mts. A short trek will take us to the Whimper hut at 5000m. Dinner and rest

Day 2: Refuge to Chimborazo Summit
Before midnight, we get up and have breakfast after breakfast we will start our climb to the top following the standard route. It will take us around 8 to 9 hours to reach the summit where you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The descent to the refuge will take 2 to 3 hours. Return to Quito.

Basic climbing equipment: boots, crampons, harness, ice ax, mittens, private transportation (4X4), park fees, and certified guides (1X2 clients), mountain meals:1 dinner, 1 breakfast, tee coffee, rest at the refuge.

Not included
Travel and health insurance, personal equipment: rain jacket, sleeping bag, warm clothes, gloves, meals not mentioned, personal expenses, tips, and beverages.chimborazo.

What to bring
Backpack, warm and rain clothes, trek shoes, 2 to 3 pair of socks, hat or cap, gloves, a flashlight (torch) with spare batteries, sunglasses with a strap, sunblock, camera with spare batteries.
