THE INKA TRAIL HIKING 4D

inca trail

Come with us to follow the path build by Huayna Capac more than 500 years ago as a temple for the worship of the sun. It is believed that part of the Ingapirca ruins was probably used as a resting place for Incan couriers traveling the road to and from Quito. Ecuadorians consider this site the most significant of the Incan ruins in Ecuador. We will start our trekking in the small village of Achupallas following colorful landscapes with beautiful views of the countryside.

Day 1. - Quito Achupallas
Our drive takes around 4 hours until we reach the small Andean village of Achupallas. Here we will admire the landscape where we set our first campsite. Then we will explore the area and nearby village. L/D

Day 2.-Achupallas - Tres Cruces
After breakfast, we hike around 5 hours along Rio Chandul through paramo grassland and along with the Andean rural villages before we ascend a huge ridge at the end of the valley. Mules carry all our gear along this part of the hike. In the afternoon we will arrive at our next camping area near Tres Cruces Lake. Rest and overnight. B/L/D

Day 3. - Tres Cruces - Culebrillas
After our early breakfast, we hike to Quiloloma, the highest point of the trek 4,300mts we will enjoy beautiful surrounding lakes and mountains that form the typical landscape of the Andean Region. In the afternoon, we continue our hike down to Culebrillas valley and set the campsite at Paredones ruins. This day we hike approximately 5 hours. B/L/D

Day 4. - Culebrillas - Ingapairca – Quito
we hike from 3 to 4 hours along the old Inca trail to reach the ruins. Here we will visit the Inca construction, which will give us a better understanding of the Incan culture and their influence in Ecuador. The name Ingapirca means in Quichua stone wall of the Incas. Admire the fine stonework and characteristic trapezoidal niches and doorways. We will have lunch nearby. After lunch, we will return to Quito (6 hours' drive approx.)
